Claire Elise Boucher (/bu:'SeI/ boo-SHAY born March 17 the 17th of March, 1988) is professionally known as Grimes, is an Canadian musician and singer/songwriter recording producer, and singer. There are many styles of her music from the beginning has been described as "lo fi R&B" as well as "futuristic dance-pop". Her music has added elements from hip hop electronic music, as well as rock. A lot of her songs touch on science-fiction themes as well as feminist themes. Five studio albums were released by her. Grimes was born in Vancouver but later relocated to Montreal. She began her independent music career in late early 2000s. In 2010, she dropped two albums via Arbutus Records, Geidi Primes (and Halfaxa), respectively. She subsequently became a member of 4AD and gained notoriety with the release of their third studio album Visions In 2012. Visions includes the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion". It also was the recipient of the Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, came out in 2015. Several publications called it the best album. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth album in the studio. Grimes as well as an actress and judge in Alter Ego's music contests, performed as the vocalist in Cyberpunk 2077 which was released in 2020.
